WHAT IS BALLZY AND WHY DO I WANT IT IN ME?

OK, HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Start with the lightest Ballzy. Though you may not be able to hold it for long at first, work towards hugging Ballzy inside for 10 minutes each day, 3x per week. Once this feels easy, move to the next heaviest Ballzy and repeat. It’s simple:

WAIT…WHAT’S THE PELVIC FLOOR AGAIN?
The pelvic floor is a supportive hammock of deep core muscle that swoops side-to-side between your hip bones and front-to-back from pubic bone to tailbone. Its job is to lift you up and care for your bits — from low abs to low back, rectum to urethra, uterus to clitoris.
A strong pelvic floor lifts you up from the inside out, improving core strength and stability, bladder control, sexual health, mental health, and more. That’s why we call it the magic muscle. Now go make some magic!
OK, HOW DOES BALLZY FLATTEN MY LOW ABS?
It’s simple anatomy. Ballzy cues your body to engage your core from your pelvic floor all the way up to your transversus abdominis, which wraps around your waist to stabilize your core. This cultivates a stronger, more core-engaged posture. See the difference?
We tend to walk around like the picture on the left, with our hip bones tilting downwards and our low back muscles doing a lot of heavy lifting. To keep Ballzy in place, you’ll position your pelvis as show in the picture on the right, with hip bones shining forward as you draw your navel in towards your spine. This gives your low back a break and flattens your low abs, too!
Good news, you won't have to think about this because Ballzy automatically cues you to tilt your pelvis to strong neutral position.

HOW FAR UP IN THERE DOES BALLZY NEED TO BE?
Listen to your body, always. Try inserting Ballzy about as high as you’d insert a non-applicator tampon with the loop hanging down for easy removal. For reference, the average vaginal barrel is nearly 4” long, but it can stretch to twice that length. Plenty of room!
If you feel around, you’ll notice your vaginal barrel is bounded by a ring of muscle at the bottom and by your cervix at the top. Experiment with slipping Ballzy about 2” into your vagina, beyond that opening ring of muscle and just below your cervix. When you hit the right spot, Ballzy should feel good.
Once you’ve got Ballzy in a place that feels good, see how long you can comfortably hold it. Hug your muscles from the bottom up — which might feel a bit like holding your bladder — to keep Ballzy inside. And if Ballzy slips out, rest a bit and try again later.
WHAT IF BALLZY SLIPS OUT?
Like any muscle in the body, your pelvic floor needs to be able to powerfully contract and fully release. If Ballzy slips out right away, your pelvic floor is used to staying relaxed, or hypotonic. Building muscle tone with Ballzy will make a big difference.
Try inserting Ballzy while lying on your back. Think about hugging your Ballzy up inside as you lift your hips, like a bridge pose in yoga. If this works, try getting on hands and knees with a flat back, like a tabletop pose in yoga. Can you move into cat-cow while hugging Ballzy in place? Take it slow, there’s no rush!
Once you get a feel for how to hug Ballzy up inside, try standing for 5 to 8 seconds at a time. As your muscles gain tone, try moving around — shower, cook a meal, or water the plants — and see how things go. Build slowly to your goal of wearing Ballzy for 10 minutes per day.
Once you feel comfy wearing Ballzy at home, you can try it out and about. Just choose close-fitting bottoms to keep Ballzy from getting away from you when your deep core has had enough. Even with a relatively strong pelvic floor, you may lose Ballzy to an unexpected laugh, cough, or sneeze!
If Ballzy should slip out, no worries. Just pop it in your carry bag and try again later.
AND WHAT IF I CAN’T GET IT IN?
It can take a bit of concentration to insert Ballzy for the first time. Find a time to try Ballzy when you can be calm, private, and focused. If inserting Ballzy is a challenge, try lying on the floor. Take some deep belly breaths and relax. Use water-based lube generously and gently ease Ballzy into your vaginal opening. If you are still having trouble, try this 10-minute audio meditation we created to help you relax the muscles in your pelvic floor.
If you feel pain, your pelvic floor is used to staying contracted, or hypertonic. This simply means your muscles are difficult to relax, even when you try your best to relieve tension.
In this case, consult your doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist for advice and care. Don’t worry — there are exercises and tools that can help you stretch these muscles. Once you’ve regained the ability to release tension, you can try Ballzy again.
I’M NOT SURE MY VAGINA IS PLAYING BALL…?!
Here’s the thing. Everybody is different, and every vagina is, too. But the more we know about how our bodies work, the more we know how to keep them healthy. Don’t feel discouraged — the best Ballzy routine for you is the one that makes you feel good.
A healthy muscle is one that can both powerfully contract and fully release. Think of your bicep — you contract it to lift, right? But you can’t live with it permanently flexed … you need it to be able to elongate or release, as well.
The same is true with your pelvic floor: Relaxing is just as important as contracting. You may find it more challenging to contract, to release, or to move between these two states. Ballzy can help you work out in different ways to focus on your unique needs.
Keep in mind that your emotions will directly impact your deep core. Focus on your own feelings to guide your practice with Ballzy. Remember everything is connected — so breathe deeply and consciously relax your stomach, chest, glutes, and your mind when working with Ballzy. Letting go of distractions or anxieties can give your pelvic floor permission to relax.
In the end, Team Ballzy is about generating conversations between yourself and your body. We’ve all internalized the idea that our vaginas need to be one way or another — that “tightness” is great for sex, and that “looseness” is bad. But we know there’s more to the story.
A healthy muscle contracts and releases to support what our bodies need at a given moment in time. Working with Ballzy can help you connect with your deep core and begin to know what your own contractions and releases really feel like. From there, do what works for you to keep your deep core toned, strong, supple, pliable, and vibrant.
HOW LONG SHOULD I WEAR BALLZY?
Just wearing Ballzy is a deep-core workout, because Ballzy puts gravity to work. To build strength, hold Ballzy inside for up to 10 minutes while you do at-home activities, like taking a shower. Repeat 5x per week, 10 minutes per day.
Once you can keep Ballzy in place for 10 minutes at a time, maintain your deep core strength by wearing Ballzy 2x to 3x per week, 5 to 10 min per day.
Studies have shown that working your pelvic floor for just 10 minutes per day, 3x per week can double pelvic floor strength in 12 weeks — with noticeable improvement in just 4 weeks!

I NEVER UNDERSTOOD KEGELS AT ALL… HOW DO I HUG BALLZY INSIDE?
Breath is important when learning to use your pelvic floor. To hug Ballzy inside, engage your core from the bottom up. To practice, close your eyes, breathe, inhale into your belly and relax your vaginal opening. As you exhale, simply draw your vaginal opening closed. Try relaxing and contracting with your breath. Feel the difference? This is the root of your deep core.
Next, take that “drawing in” feeling from the bottom to the top. Close your vaginal opening, then keep lifting upwards. Go slowwwwwly, contracting your vaginal barrel all the way up to your cervix. You may notice your navel pulling inward as your inner contraction reaches the top. Try thinking about it in 3 ways:
Hold It. Imagine you have to pee but there’s no place to go. Hugging Ballzy inside means squeezing from bottom to top, as if you’re trying not to pee!
Lift It. Think of your vaginal barrel like an elevator shaft. Ballzy is the elevator car you want to lift UP to the top floor.
Zip It. Draw your belly button in towards your spine as you exhale. tilt your pelvis so your hip bones are pointing straight ahead instead of downwards. Think of zipping up tight pants.
If you tend to bear down or hold your breath while engaging your core, Ballzy will slip right out. Try the opposite: exhale slowly as you contract deep core muscles from the bottom up.
WHAT IF I WANT A HARDER WORKOUT?
Wearing Ballzy during activity makes the Ballzy deep-core workout harder. Depending what your body needs on any given day, you can choose a lighter or heavier Ballzy, or add extra connection drills, release training, or strength challenges to your week.
Even when you are not wearing Ballzy, you can support deep core strength by working your booty. The pelvic floor attaches to the tailbone, so strengthening your glutes can help you build “lift” for the next time you wear Ballzy.
Whatever you choose, no need to overdo it! Your deep core is made up of small muscles that tire quickly. Take it slowly and listen to your body. Relaxing these muscles is just as essential as engaging them, just like any muscle in your body. Enjoy!
WILL WORKING OUT WITH BALLZY MAKE ME SORE?
These small muscles do tire quickly. Be mindful of when Ballzy begins to feel heavy or challenging. This is a sign your deep core has had enough for now. Slip Ballzy out, pop it in your carry bag, and rest.
You may feel muscle aches after working with Ballzy. Listen to your body, and know that these signals mean change is happening. As you build strength, the length of time you can wear Ballzy with ease will increase.
